A dangerous spiral for Fenty and the District
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/05/28/AR2010052803697.html?hpid=opinionsbox1
History is replete with examples of leaders who “got things done” while trampling on the rights of citizens. Although Fenty and his crew may have improved schools and safety, they have done it with contempt for the people who provide these services. This is not the American way and it can’t be allowed to continue in DC or anywhere else in the United States.
During this Memorial Day weekend we need to meditate on the sacrifices made by our men and women in the military. These people gave their lives so the rest of us can exercise and enjoy our privileges as citizens of this great country. Each of us has an obligation to protect these freedoms wherever and whenever they are trampled upon.
Linda: “Although Fenty and his crew may have improved schools and safety, they have done it with contempt for the people who provide these services.”
Wow. You’re conceding the kids are better off. Arguendo, let’s stipulate your charge that was with disregard for the workers.
You’re rejecting better-off kids, worse-off adults?
“Although Fenty and his crew MAY have improved schools and safety…”
Poor treatment of parents and teachers is almost never beneficial for the children in their care. I support better-off adults for the sake of better-off children.
