Local Education, “Agency?”

The big problem with most analysis/conversation about public charter schools is that too many people are trying to make sweeping generalizations about what is in practice a state-by-state policy with high variance.

Fordham helps shed some light on the question of charter autonomy, state-by-state, with a new report that’s well worth your time if you follow the issue.

  1. The problem with most analysis/conversation about charter schools and indeed education reform in general is that nobody has read work on the sociology of think tanks or if they have, they don’t care.

  2. Bless Berlin’s hedgehogs and foxes…the problem with most analysis/conversation about charter schools and indeed education reform in general is that those who support charters and advocate their own pet reforms are shouting at those who do not and talking only to those who do–and of course, that those who question charters and various pet reforms are shouting at those who advocate them and talking only to those who don’t. So where does Fordham’s think tank shake out?
