Talking About A Revolution

It was great to see Revolution Foods profiled in The Times over the weekend.  The company, which provides healthy school lunches, has popped up on this blog from time to time, they’re outstanding and doing interesting and important work.

  1. It would be great if all schools had the finances to have healthy lunches that taste good as well. I think the finances for schools make it difficult to improve the lunch system. Then again, I wonder how many children will actually eat the healthy lunches. I think maybe they’re programed, even at home, to want the junk food and pass on the healthy food. Not all of them, but many of them. Maybe there will someday be a balance.

  2. I teach in a school where lunch is mostly starches, such as burritos, sandwiches, peas, etc. We of course have some fruits, but most are canned. Breakfast is the same, mostly starches.

I would be interested to know more about them. Maybe they could get in touch with my school district and teach our administrators and cafeteria workers about nutrition.
