More Gates

Usually Reliable Robelen has reax on the Gates announcement from Tuesday and Elizabeth Green is hot on his heels.   Earlier reporting from both here.   All your primary documents from the foundation here (although the dialogue during the day was more telling (and occasionally jaw-dropping) than the speeches).  Overall in terms of the strategy it’s good stuff and a clever approach.  In fact, while I remain skeptical on the national standards issue overall as any sort of near-term school improvement strategy the way they are seeking to move forward has a lot to recommend it.  Still, despite the attention that piece is getting there is a lot more in the package.  In fact, in terms of real change I think there is a big sleeper in there…Disc:  Gates is an ES funder.  Update:  Also check out Checker Finn on the same.
