Too Much Faith In Charters?

There is a local now going national debate over a charter school in MN and whether it promotes the Muslim faith. The local paper (The Star Trib.) hosts an interesting roundtable discussing the larger issues. Update: Check out Flypaper on this also.

  1. It should matter less about what type of organization starts a charter school and more about the quality of education children receive at that school. While per pupil funding is provided to charter schools, as long as the school is not promoting religion then there is no problem. In my opinion, the problem would occur if religious teachings – of any religion – became a regular part of the school day. Public dollars should not be used to support one religious faith over another.
