Two On Teachers’ Unions

NYT has a pair of op-eds about teachers’ unions today. I see opportunities for teachers’ unions around multiple-contracts and reform contracts to match up with different kinds of schools in the public system. Lexington Institute’s David White offers-up conservative worries about the teachers’ unions and the Democratic convention if it’s brokered this year, but don’t they always say that every four years?

For my part, along with using resources, people, and time differently and more productively, providing more customization (for students and teachers) is one of the big challenges that public education faces over the next generation.
