All eyes on Iowa today. Good time to mention one more problem with Sam Dillon’s NCLB story the other day. How the candidates respond in Iowa on education is not necessarily indicative of the overall contours of the issue or the race. Why? Well the candidates aren’t stupid and want to win. One in five, or by some estimates as many as one in four, Iowa caucus-goers are teachers. That (a) matters to how things play in Iowa and (b) is hardly representative of either the national electorate or even the electorate in many primary states down the road.
