Hopefully the CoC will include in its plan a call for increased funding for the enforcement of youth employment laws. Somehow, though, I doubt it.
Great observation. The big, big majority of my students work over 30 hours a week. Many work more than 40 hours.
Many of my kids have to help support their families. But they often are sentencing themselves to a life-time of poverty because they immediately flunk out of college or community college. These kids are trying to do the right thing but they are making a tragic mistake. Our rich nation doesn’t need to depend upon the kindness, and vulnerablity, of poor teenagers.
