I haven’t blogged about George Miller’s Monday No Child speech but everyone else has or at least has about multiple measures. I’m not as freaked out by the multiple measures stuff as some are though. Sure, some of the ideas floating around would make state testing systems completely unreliable. But at the end of the day, I think the sort of measures that will be included will be things like IB and AP, in other words measures that are uniform and are tied to rigor. Often politicians disappoint but Miller has hung tough on these issues before and I suspect he will again. In fact, the politics shape up pretty well because right now it would be hard to move a bill through either chamber that really undercuts the accountability system.
