New NCLB

You’re going to hear a lot about this Burr (R-NC) – Gregg (R-NH) No Child Left Behind reauthorization bill (pdf). So that link will take you to the text to read yourself. At the topline noteworthy mostly because it doesn’t gut NCLB and I’m not even sure that from the perspective of some usual suspects it even would qualify as “fixing” it. A lot of proposals from The Aspens are in here. Overall shows the boundaries of this debate and those hoping for radical overhauls will likely be disappointed because if the serious Rs aren’t going to do it, Kennedy and Miller sure aren’t.
