If you’re an anti-No Child Left Behind paranoid you won’t be happy to learn that Secretary Spellings sat down with the “Big Four” to talk NCLB reauthorization Tuesday. The big four are the chairs and ranking minority members on the House and Senate education committees. Recall that in 2001, the Big Four (two of whom have moved on to other things) cut the deal that led to NCLB’s enactment. Spellings even gave them cookies, that’s one there at right. Still, the odds remain long…for a bunch of reasons including money.
