EduKurtz: More Student Loans…Differences With Distinction

I’m not a media critic, I leave that to Richard Colvin. But seems to me that there are some interesting differences in this NYT story and this WaPo story about the resignation of student loan official Terri Shaw from the Department of Education. WaPo plays up Spellings relatively strong defense, hardly seems like a sacking, while The Times makes it sound very grim. In any event, tough week for the Secretary, she heads to the Hill to discuss this with lawmakers tomorrow. Do note the Terry Hartle quote in The Times though…

Update: A number of folks, including Spellings antagonists and people with no stake in this, say that Terri Shaw was indeed signaling that she was looking to do something else as early as last summer.
