Shad!

This has little to do with education though it would make a nifty lesson. Shad are an anadromous fish that swim up rivers to spawn in springtime. Some people eat them, commonly by planking them, they’re bony though. They are very fun, however, to catch on a fly rod as all that time in the ocean turns them into real fighters and they grow to a decent size. And, in case all that information isn’t exciting enough for you, you can actually watch American and Hickory shad swim by here on this shad cam.
