NAEP Madness…Slow Times At Your High

The new 12th-grade NAEP data has everyone buzzing. Ed Trust breaks it down here and here (ppt). Sure, it’s worrisome in terms of the trends and there are a host of high school problems that need addressing, including the issue of course titles v. course content (one, the former, is changing and the other is not). Yet overall I don’t put quite as much stock in the 12th-grade NAEP as I do the 4th and 8th-grade tests for obvious reasons.
