Harbingers

The lede of this story ought to (again) alert Democrats to a growing problem:

DENVER – Senate Republicans gutted a bill Tuesday that they feared would curtail the growth of charter schools, teaming with inner-city Democrats to turn it into a measure that, instead, could enable creation of more charter schools.

There could be some awkward moments in 2008 if the Democratic presidential nominee has to go into vote rich parts of the country in competitive states like PA and CO at odds with state and local officials there over the key issue of education reform…

Meanwhile, Bart Peterson* (D), the Mayor of Indianapolis shows that it doesn’t have to be so hard… (I’m on a board he chairs).
