When ever stuff like this happens, the teachers’ in the Florida charter school unionizing, some folks in the teachers union crowd naturally think I must be against it.* On the contrary, choice in the public sector means choice in the public sector. What I want is effective schools and some of the things the teachers’ unions fall on their swords for surely work against that right now. But that doesn’t mean that under no circumstances can unionization work in public education or that teachers shouldn’t have the right to form unions like other workers.
