Wither Education?

What’s more annoying, that the presidential candidates really don’t talk much about education and what an important social issue school reform is or that there is an almost non-stop deluge of op-eds (eg here and here) bemoaning that the presidential candidates don’t talk much about education? Increasingly I think the latter…

Someone should raise a lot of money and do something about this!

    umm Ed in ‘08? anyone?

Ed in ‘08 has failed to do more than prod people into saying that education is important and teaching them to pat themselves on the back when they do.

We’ll only deviate from this unproductive, circular approach when someone has the courage to offer a plan for what education should be, what it shouldn’t be, and how to get there. I’m not holding my breath.
