Segregation Forever?
Surely there must be some reasoning behind why public charter school students in Washington, D.C. are discriminated against in this very powerful college scholarship program. But I have no idea what it is…especially because the momentum for college-going in Washington is more often in the…um…public charter schools right now…*
The scholarship is open to students from the 16 high schools in the D.C. school system who apply to [George Washington University]. Students from charter schools are not eligible, said Thaddisa Fulwood, who led the university selection committee.
Maybe the DC Education Blog can get to the bottom of this one?
Update: Sara Mead points out that it’s even worse than I thought. No doubt the usual suspects will be up in arms about this skimming!
